About Us
Our Story
Potpourri of Silk is a sunlit sanctuary where tradition, great food, and family legacy meet. Founded in 1996 by Cris and Tino Barreiro, it began as a boutique for cakes and floral arrangements, with Cris delighting the neighborhood with stunning wedding and quinceañera creations. For two decades, the shop celebrated life’s sweetest moments, filled with warmth, artistry, and care.
In 2015, their son Andres ushered in a new chapter, transforming the shop into Potpourri Boulangerie—a Montreal-style café with fresh bread, coffee, brunch, and lunch. Afternoon Tea was initially a side delight but soon became a guest favorite, hinting at the teahouse’s true potential. When COVID-19 paused the world, the Barreiros reimagined the space and dedicated themselves fully to tea.

Today, the Afternoon Tea Experience goes beyond classic flavors and towers. Guests enjoy a three-course chef-tasting menu paired with carefully curated tea blends, creating a memorable experience.
Now back to its original name, Potpourri of Silk is more than just a teahouse. It’s a bright, welcoming place with a history of family, classic charm, and the simple joy of tea. Every cup tells a story, and every visit is a moment to savor.

The Chef
Andres Barreiro
Andres Barreiro didn’t just grow up around cake and pastries—he practically breathed them in. Raised in his family’s original cake shop, he learned early on that the best moments are the ones shared over a perfectly baked treat. After studying at the Texas Culinary Academy, he traveled from the kitchens of Cuvee Bistro in Florida to the boulangeries of Montreal, gathering flavors, techniques, and inspiration along the way.
Today, Andres pours all of his heart, heritage, and culinary adventures into Potpourri of Silk. Every dish is carefully crafted, every cup of tea perfectly poured, and every detail considered—because for Andres, it’s not just about food and drink; it’s about creating moments that linger. In his hands, the family tea shop becomes a little stage where laughter bubbles, stories are shared, and the simple joys of life are celebrated one thoughtful cup at a time.
Front of House Manager & Tea Curator
Daryl Pippins II
Daryl Pippins II, longtime collaborator and childhood friend of Chef Andrés, has spent over seven years at Potpourri of Silk sprinkling heart, hospitality, and a love of tea into every guest experience. As our tea curator, he whirls up custom blends—if you haven’t sipped the Spiced Nook, you’re seriously missing out—making sure every cup is as thoughtful as it is flavorful.With his infectious joy and warm presence, Daryl turns every visit into a charming, cozy moment. He doesn’t just serve tea—he sparks smiles, conversation, and makes Potpourri feel like a home where every guest leaves a little happier than when they arrived.
Sous Chef
Estevan Barreiro
The oldest Barreiro son, Estevan wears many hats at Potpourri, chief among them his essential role in the kitchen as sous chef. A skilled culinary craftsman, he works alongside his brother Andrés to create dishes that delight and inspire.
Beyond the kitchen, Estevan is also a talented studio artist, and a selection of his paintings brings color and personality to the teahouse walls. Guests enjoy not only his thoughtful cuisine but also the quiet beauty of his artwork, making each visit a pleasure for both palate and eye.
Resident Jack of All Trades
Kelsey Sager
Kelsey Sager might have been hired to work front of house, but somehow she’s quietly taken over the whole shop—and we’re not even mad about it. Supply wrangler, shop decorator, menu designer, social media maven, tea blender, idea brainstormer… and general boss lady, Kelsey does it all with a sparkle in her eye and a “let’s make it better” attitude.
In less than a year, she’s already bossed around the bosses (politely, of course) and charmed both new and returning guests. From refreshing our visuals to leveling up the tea latte menu, Kelsey’s keen eye for detail and mischievous sense of fun make Potpourri feel as vibrant and lively as a perfectly brewed cup of tea.
